Volleyball Season Comes To An End With 3-0 Loss At Long Beach State

Hubbell Finishes Career Ranked 8th In Big West History In Career Digs
Long Beach, CA—The UC Riverside Volleyball Team's season came t an end Saturday evening with a 3-0 loss at Long Beach State.
Maddie Hubbell recorded 12 digs in the game giving her 1,693 for her career—the eighth highest total in Big West Conference history.
SET 1 (21-25)
The Highlanders trailed by just one point, 8-7 one third of the way through the set, but the 49ers scored four straight points and never trailed the rest of the way.
UC Riverside battled back late, slicing the lead to two, 23-21, but the Beach scored the final two points to secure the set.
SET 2 (12-25)
Long Beach State scored the first three points of the set and 13 of the first 17, closing out the set on a four-point run for the 25-12 win.
SET 3 (18-25)
UC Riverside jumped out to an early lead in the third, and still led 9-8 before LBSU ran off five straight points to give them a lead they would never relinquish.
Cristina Maeitta led the Highlanders with eight kills, while Chelsea Doyle added 21 assists. Nele Barber led the 49ers' offense with 15 kills, while Missy Owens quarterbacked the attack with 37 assists.
UC Riverside finishes the season with an 8-20 record, including 3-13 in Big West play. The teams eight conference wins over the past two seasons are the most for the program in a two-year span since joining the Big West.
