Softball Takes On Kansas And Sacramento State At Fresno Kickoff Classic Today

Fresno—The UC Riverside Softball Team plays in its second tournament of the 2016 season Friday, Feb. 19 at 11 am against Kansas University in the Kickoff Classic hosted by Fresno State.

Friday 2/19 11:00 am vs Kansas

In the Highlanders, 11-3, win over Army, Tayler Misfeldt allowed three runs on six hits, striking out five in five innings of work. Five UCR hitters had two RBI's each,Maddie Richard, Natalie Sanchez, Jenna Curtan, Courtnie Ploesch, and Hannah Rodriguez.
Richard is hitting .500 and is a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts. Ploesch is second in hitting on the team with a .400 average, Hannah Rodriguez is batting .364, and Chelsey Holley leads the team with seven RBI's.
In last year's Kickoff Classic, UCR went 3-2, winning the first three games and dropping the last two. They defeated host Fresno State, Santa Clara, and Sacramento State, before falling to Sacramento State in a rematch, and then to California.
