Irvine, CA—The UC Riverside Volleyball Team (9-10, 1-6) was looking to move into a seventh place tie with Long Beach State Saturday evening, but the Highlanders dropped a straight-set road decision to third-place UC Irvine (17-2, 5-1).
SET ONE (25-8, UCI)
Key Runs: The Highlanders and Anteaters split the first two points, but UC Irvine scored the next seven points to take control of the set.
SET TWO (25-17, UCI)
Key Run: Leading 8-7, the 'Eaters scored the next five points, and never led by less than three the rest of the way.
SET THREE (25-21, UCI)
Key Runs: Tied at four, UC Irvine won the next three points to take a lead they would never relinquish. Although they stretched that advantage to seven, 23-16, the Anteaters had to withstand a 5-0 UC Riverside run before they scored the final two points of the set en route to a 3-0 sweep.
GAME NOTES
UC Riverside's 27 kills were their fewest of the season as was the team's 0.64 attack percentage.
Nicole Rodriguez recorded double digit digs for the 17th time in 19 matches this season.
Morgan Kline recorded double-digit assists for the third time this year.
