Volleyball Falls, 3-2, To Cal State Northridge In Final Match Of The Season

Riverside, CA—The UC Riverside Volleyball Team (10-18, 2-14) led 2-0 against Cal State Northridge (13-15, 7-9), but fell in five sets.
SET ONE (25-15, UCR)
Key Runs:Â The Highlanders and Matadors tied eight times, the last of which at nine. Leading 16-13, the Highlanders scored the next eight straight points to take control of the first set.
SET TWO (25-21, UCR)
Key Runs: Leading 16-15, the Highlanders scored five of the next seven points on their way to a two-sets-to-none lead.
SET THREE (25-21, CSUN)
Key Runs: Trailing 22-14, UC Riverside scored five of the next six points to close the gap, but were unable to take the lead.
SET FOUR (25-13, CSUN)
Key Runs: UC Riverside led 7-4, but Cal State Northridge scored 10 of the next 11 points to take a lead they would never relinquish.
SET FIVE (15-6, CSUN)
Key Runs: Tied at five, the Matadors won the next four straight points to take control of the set and win the match.
GAME NOTES
Mickayla Sherman and Fabiana Rosas led the Highlanders with 14 kills each.
Sherman now has ten double-digit kill efforts on the season.
Rosas achieved her sixth kill-dig double-double of the season (14 kills, 17 digs).
Morgan Kline recorded a career-high 40 assists in the match. It is her third straight match with 30-plus assists.
Nicole Rodriguez logged thirteen digs and seven assists. She now has 401 digs for the season, a Highlander single-season record for a Freshman.
