Eight-Run Third Inning Rally Leads Softball To 9-1 Win Over Siena

Riverside, CA– Haley Marschall tossed a complete game five-hitter, and Stephanie Tickemyer had three RBIs in UC Riverside Softball Team's 9-1 victory over Siena in their 2017 home opener.

In the first inning,:Siena Taylor led off with a single, advances to second on WP to give Siena a runner in scoring position early on. She then advanced to third on a groundout to Hannah Rodriguez at short, before scoring on a single to right by Maddie Cossack.

UCR answered in the home half of the first when Haley Harris drew one out walk, and came in to score when Brittney Garcia got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Highlanders' starter Haley Marschall settled in, and retired the Saints in order in the second and third innings.

Jenae Lockwood led off the inning with a triple to right, before Rebecca Faulkner singled to left center scoring Lockwood.

The Highlanders plated one more on a wild pitch to make it a 3-1 ballgame. Then Tickemyer stepped to the dish with bases juiced and doubled off the base of the center field fence, clearing the bases and breaking the game wide open.

UC Riverside put up eight in the third en route to a, 9-1, victory in their 2017 home opener. Marshall went to distance for the second time this season in earning his first win as a member of the Highlanders

Friday they'll back in the action in the Amy S. Harrison Classic at 2 pm against these same Siena Saints.
