Women's Tennis Prevails, 4-3. Over Southern Utah On The SRC Courts

Riverside–The UC Riverside Women's Team wrapped up its 5 match home stand with a 4-3 win over the Southern Utah Thunderbirds. It was the Highlanders fourth victory out of five matches on the current home stand improving their overall record to 5-8.
 
The Highlanders dropped the doubles point to the Thunderbirds by getting swept on all three doubles courts. UCR then rallied to take four out of the six singles matches to clinch the match.
 
Tracy Van, Lauren Wolfe, Tamilla Vaksman, and Natalie Penner all won their singles matches for the Highlanders in straight sets. Van dispatched her opponent 6-4, 6-4 at the no. 2 spot. Vaksman cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 victory at the no. 4 spot. Penner outlasted her opponent 6-4, 7-5 at the no. 5 spot.
 
Lauren Wolfe was bumped up in the lineup to the no. 3 singles spot and kept her winning streak going in dominating fashion getting past her opponent 6-2, 6-1.
 
"We didn't play our best but we fought hard and won a close one 4-3" Coach Mark Henry.
 
UC Riverside hits the road to travel to LMU for a match on Wednesday April 5th. It is the Highlanders last match before a four-match stretch against Big West schools to wrap up the regular season.
