South Bend, IN—The UC Riverside Men's and Women's Cross Country Teams return to action this Friday, September 29 for their third meet of the season at the Joe Piane Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame. The women will kick things off in the first of five total events, beginning at 11 am PT.

Of the 51 Division I schools set to participate, 11 ranked teams will be in attendance, with four coming on the men's side and seven on the women's.
Led by redshirt senior Faith Makau, the UCR women will carry a No. 15 West Region ranking into the weekend. Makau has led the Highlanders in each of their two meets to begin the season, taking fourth place finishes at both the Nevada Twilight Classic (recap) and the UC Riverside Invitational (recap).
Also expected to be among the Highlanders' top contributors are Emily Sanchez and Weslie Pearce, who both finished in the top-25 at the UCR Invite. Along with Makau, they helped lead UC Riverside to a sixth-place finish in their first home meet of the season.
On the men's side, redshirt sophomore Arman Irani will look to build on a strong start to the season which has seen him finish first on the team in consecutive meets. The San Diego, CA native finished third overall at the Nevada Twilight Classic (recap) before leading his team with a 20th-place finish at the UCR Invite (recap).
