Curry's Big Night Not Enough As Women's Basketball Falls At UC Davis, 74-63

Davis, CA—The UC Riverside Women's Basketball Team (4-13, 1-2) fell to UC Davis (13-3, 3-0) 74-63 in the Highlanders' Big West road opener on Thursday night. Senior guard Michelle Curry finished just two points shy of a career-high with 25 points (9-17 FG) to lead UCR.

KEY RUNS
A strong start for the Highlanders saw them take a 12-2 lead midway through the first quarter, as they held the home side to just 16.7 percent (3-18 FG) shooting in the opening period. However, UC Davis would answer back with a 25-10 run, eventually taking a 29-26 lead into halftime.

A 19-5 Davis run in the third helped give the home side its largest lead of the game, 52-35. After starting the game 1-of-10 from three-point range, the Aggies would connect on seven of their next nine triples to take control of the contest.

The Highlanders would keep things close into the fourth, going on separate 7-0 and 8-0 runs to come within five points at 61-56 with less than five minutes to go, but it was too little, too late.

GAME NOTES
Michelle Curry filled up the stat sheet once again, adding 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals alongside her game-high 25 points (7-10 FT).

Lauren Holt scored 13 points (6-13 FG) to extend her double-digit scoring streak to 10 consecutive games. The San Jose, California native also tied a season-high by grabbing 6 rebounds.

In her second start of the season, freshman guard Tianna Eaton tied a career-high with 7 points.
