RIVERSIDE, Calif.—The UC Riverside Women's Golf team gained valuable experience in its final tournament of the fall season at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, finishing on Tuesday with a final team score of 893 (+29).
The team shot a 296 on Sunday, before its best combined round of 294 on Monday. Those scores marked the two lowest of the season for the team. After scoring a 303 in the final round, the Highlanders finished 15th overall.
The most consistent golfer throughout the Showdown was junior Hailey White, who finished tied for 45th place, shooting a combined 221 (+5). White had her lowest rounds of the season on Sunday and Monday, shooting a 73 on both days.
Jakeishya Le's success tailed off at the end of the tournament, but her 72 in the opening round marked her sixth round of par or better this season.
Ping Huang had her lowest round of the season thus far, shooting a 72 on Monday.
The Highlanders hit plenty of greens in regulation over the three days. The problem was converting those putts into birdies. The team had 27 birdies through the three rounds.
UCR will host the Battle at the Rock on Feb. 11 at Oak Quarry Golf Club in Riverside.
