NORTHRIDGE, Calif.— The UC Riverside Women's Volleyball Team fell 3-1 on the road Tuesday night as the Highlanders earned a 25-22 win in a mist-win 3rd set, but ultimately fell to CSUN.
The Matadors took an early lead grabbing the first two sets, but the Highlanders inched closer each time dropping the 1st set 25-19 and the 2nd 25-23.
With their backs against the wall, UCR rose to the occasion and broke through in the 3rd set taking it 25-22 after winning four of the last five points.
The Matadors would close out the match grabbing the 4th set 25-19.
The Highlander underclassmen again led the attack in Tuesday's match as freshman Nailah Jones and sophomore Yuliya Ushakova led team with 13 and 12 kills, respectively, and freshman Christina Escamilla trailed just behind with 11.
Senior Chelsea Doyle set-up the offense all night adding 41 more assists to her career total and now sits just 32 back of moving into 2nd in the all-time record books (1st in Division I). She also added 14 digs, which ranked 2nd on the Highlanders.
UC Riverside will now return to the SRC Arena for a four-match home stand begining this Saturday at 7:00 PM against UC Irvine.
