
Focus on the Future: Men's Basketball Signs Daniel Mading and Oliver Hayes-Brown to NLI

RIVERSIDE, Calif.— As the UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team prepares for its homecoming game this week, the Highlanders have been giving another reason to look ahead to the near future as the program has announced two phenomenal student-athletes to its 2019 recruiting class. As of this week, Daniel Mading and Oliver Hayes-Brown have each signed their National Letters of Intent to join the Highlander family.
Daniel Mading
Mading is a former four-star recruit that comes to Riverside from Neosho City College. The South Sudan native grew up that grew up in Perch, Austrailia has been recruited by a medley of other programs this year as he is a true talent that will bring a unique skill set to the Highlanders.
"We are pleased to announce the signing of Daniel Mading to our program," Head Coach David Patrick. "His length, athleticism, and skill give us a versatile student-athlete we can play inside or out. He is an outstanding young man who will be a great addition to the Highlander family."
The 6'10" forward will join UC Riverside with three years of eligibility left and will be enrolling in the 2019 winter quarter.
Oliver Hayes-Brown
Ollie brings a vast resume of experience having been a multiple time representative for Victoria at the Australian National Junior Championships, a member of two national junior championship teams for Victoria, and taking part in the Australian Emus Squad preparation camp for the 2018 Asian Cup.

Oliver Hayes-Brown
Ollie Hayes-Brown comes to UCR off a tremendous season with the Dandenong Ranges club team in Melbourne, Australia where he averaged 13.3 ppg and 10.4 rpg in the Victorian Youth Championship League. The 6'10" Aussie native is a great athlete and skilled post post player that has the ability to stretch the floor with his shooting.
"We are thrilled to add Ollie Hayes to our program" Patrick said. " At 6'10, his shot blocking, rebounding, and ability to step out and score gives us another inside-out presence. His experience as a player on the Australian U19 National Team will help us from day one and he will be a great addition to both the team and the entire UCR campus."
