
Track & Field Heads to The MPSF Indoor Championships in Seattle

Seattle, Wash.— The UC Riverside Men's and Women's Track Teams will head north to Washington this Friday-Sunday, Feb. 23-25 to compete in the 2018 MPSF Indoor Championships.
The Highlanders will be sending a team of 19 Highlanders from the men's side and 20 Highlanders from the women's to participate in the weekend's events.
UC RIVERSIDE WOMEN'S TEAM
Camille Deadwiler will be competing in the 60m dash. The senior ranks 2nd in the UCR all-time record books with a time of 7.69, set earlier this year. Sophomore Kenady Jackson will follow in the 200m. Jackson's personal-best time of 24.80 ranks 2nd all-time as well.
Senior Faith Makau and junior Cydney Branch will compete alongside one another in the 800m where Makau holds the 7th-best time in Highlander history (2:14.69).
Senior Weslie Pearce and junior Emily Sanchez will each be coming in several events this weekend, including the 3000m. Last year, Pearce had the program's 7th-fastest time with a mark of 9:44.74. Earlier this year, Sanchez moved into 10th with her time of 9:58.69. Pearce will also compete in the 5000m, an event in which she broke the all-time program record last year at 16:47.31.
Sanchez, Branch, Makau, and senior Taylor Brown will all team up for the Distance Medley Relay.
Sophomore Dilini Amarasekara, who put in UC Riverside's 2nd best all-time score of 3701 this year, will be the Highlander representative in the Pentathlon.
Junior Jorden O'Neal, junior Tayler Fleming, and Deadwiler will all be competing in the Long Jump where O'Neal (19-02.5) and Fleming (18-06.75) rank 2nd and 4th, respectively, in the UCR record book from jumps they completed in 2016.

On the men's side, Michael Kojin will participate in both the 60m dash and the 200m. Kojin ranks 7th all-time in the 60m (7.06) and tops the record books in the 200m (21.64).
Sophomore Heinrich Van Niekerk and junior Ethan Van Setten will be making their indoor debuts this year as both will compete in the 800m.
Senior Peter Manu, UCR's all-time leader with a time of 8.09, will be back on the track for the 60m Hurdles.
Senior Wes Braddock and sophomore Lawrence O'Hara will compete alongside one another in both the Weight Throw and the Shot Put, where both athletes are on the top-10 all time list. Braddock ranks 4th in the Shot Put and 2nd in the Weight Throw, while Braddock is 3rd and 9th.
