Riverside, Calif.— The UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team fell 4-2 in a dual match with Southern Utah Tuesday afternoon. The Highlanders had a hot start winning the doubles round, but the Thunderbirds responded with four singles wins to take the overall match.
UCR opened up the match with doubles wins on courts one and two to seal a 1-0 lead. The duo of Sara Khattab and Tia Elpusan took a 6-4 win on court one and the team of Lauren Wolfe and Tamila Vaksman added a 6-4 victory of its own on court two.
Elpusan kept her momentum going in the singles round adding a win on court two for UCR. The freshman defeated Zoe Tanti, despite falling in the first set, with a score of 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.
The Highlanders are back in action Wednesday at 1:30 PM as the team hosts Bradley at the SRC Tennis Courts.
