Riverside, Calif.— The UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team (2-14) ended a 13 match skid Wednesday afternoon with a dminant 7-0 sweep of Bradley University.
The Highlanders had a hot start as they took doubles point with wins on courts one and three. The duo of Lauren Wolfe and Tamilla Vaksmanwere the first off winning 6-3 on court three, and the team of Tia Elpusan and Sara Khattab sealed the doubles point on court one with a 7-6 victory.
In the singles round, the Highlanders would take a match by default on court six and then added five singles wins to sweep the Braves 7-0.
Khattab, Tracy Van, and Karla Dulay were the first to finish as all three won in straight sets. Khattab won on court three only dropping five games 6-3, 6-2. Van added a similar match on court five with a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Dulay had a close first set but would dominate in the 2nd winning 7-6, 6-0.
Elpusan was the next off on court two as she grinded out a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win. Chloe Pham would wrap up the match on court four with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 victory that gave the Highlanders a 7-0 sweep.
The Highlanders are back in action this Saturday as they will look for their 2nd straight win with a match against Drake. The match is set for 1:30 PM at the SRC Tennis Courts.
