Maui, Hawaii – After returning to Hawaii for the first time since taking home the 2016 Big West Championship, the UC Riverside Women's Golf team finished in 11th-place Wednesday at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic.
Hannah Facchini led the Highlanders for the first time this season, as she ended the three-day tournament with a score of 8-over 224. It was the second time this season that the senior charted a top-20 finish, as she tied for 18th out of a pool of 69 golfers.
Junior Hana Furuichi overcame a slow start to post the highest score on her team in both the second (72) and third rounds (73). She finished just one stroke behind Facchini at 9-over 225, tying for 26th-place. Furuichi was at her best on Par-3s, where she finished a +1 for the fifth-best score in the tournament.
Finishing with the third-lowest score for UC Riverside was sophomore Hailey White, who finished 17-over 233 to tie for 48th overall. This marks the first time this season that White had one of the top-three scores on her team.
Rounding out the competition for the Highlanders were junior Jakeishya Le and senior Krista Twet, who finished in 53rd and 66th, respectively.
Now with three tournaments under their belt in this calendar year, UC Riverside will participate in just one more tournament prior to the Big West Championships in mid-April. From April 9-10, they will be in Arizona for the Bobcat Desert Invitational looking to fine-tune things in their final week before the beginning of postseason play.
