Sacramento & Palo Alto, Calif. – The UC Riverside Track and Field teams head north this weekend for two meets. Three athletes will participate in the Stanford Invitational on Friday, while the majority of the team will see action at the Sacramento State Mondo Team Challenge on Saturday.
STANFORD INVITATIONAL
UC Riverside's all-time record holder in the 3000m Steeplechase, senior Weslie Pearce, will be the first to compete tomorrow at the Stanford Invitational. Pearce recorded her fastest time this year of 10:40.21 at the UCSB/Cal Poly Meet. That was just shy of her all-time program record of 10:24.24, which she set while winning the 2017 Big West Championships.
Following Pearce will be fellow senior Faith Makau in the 1500m. Makau owns the Highlanders' best time this season (4:34.94), which also came at the UCSB/Cal Poly Meet. Closing out the day will be junior Emily Sanchez in the 5000m.
