San Luis Obispo, Calif.— After taking the opening conference series with two wins on Friday,
 the UC Riverside Softball Team (25-12, 2-1) fell 2-1 in the final game to Cal Poly (17-15, 1-2).
UCR performed well in early at-bats on the day getting six of their seven lead-off batters aboard, but could not bring them in leaving 10 on base.
Cal Poly took an early lead scoring its first run of the series in the bottom of the 3rd to go up 1-0, but the Highlanders would even the score in the top of the 5th. Lead-off batter, senior Jenna Curtan, reached on a Mustang throwing error and came all the way to score on an RBI triple from Seanna Garewal. The game tying hit was the first of the series for the freshman left fielder.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 7th, the Mustangs would take game three 2-1 capitalizing on a Highlander error.
Pitcher Tayler Misfeldt had another great outing from the circle pitching 6.2 innings and only allowing one earned run, four hits , and three walks to complete a strong weekend for the senior.
Curtan and sophomore Sarah Parten were bright spots on the day as each player stayed disciplined at the plate drawing a combined six walks on the day. Curtan also added the Highlander's run and Parten went 1-for-1.
The Highlanders will be back on the road next weekend as they visit No. 18 Long Beach for a three game series. Action will start with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1:00 PM in Long Beach, CA
