Men's Tennis Defeats Youngstown State 4-3

Riverside, Calif.- The UC Riverside Men's Tennis Team (5-10) defeated the Penguins of Youngstown State (5-7) 4-3 Tuesday afternoon despite being edged out in the doubles round.

The Penguins would take a 1-0 lead winning all three doubles matches, but the Highlanders would quickly bounce back in the singles round.

Sophomore Nabil Abdallah was the first off the courts with a 6-2, 6-2 sweep on court two, that tied the match at 1-1.

Freshman Pawel Jankowiak would give UCR its first lead with a 6-3, 6-3 win on court two but the Penguins would win a match on court four to match the Highlanders.

With a 6-4, 6-4 win on court three from junior Kyle McCann, UCR would regain the lead but a Youngstown win on court two would ice the match and both teams would look to court six for the win.

Freshman Vignesh Subramanyan dominated in the first set 6-1, but his opponent would take the second set 4-6. The overall match would come down to one last set as the freshman downed his opponent once again to take a 6-1, 4-6, 6-1 win.

The Highlanders will take this win into a 9 AM match with Boston University tomorrow at the SRC Tennis Courts in Riverside, Ca.
