Women's Tennis Falls to Utah State 5-2

Riverside, Calif.- The UC Riverside Women's Tennis Team dropped a match 5-2 to Utah State Thursday afternoon.

The Highlanders got out to a strong start as they won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead in the match. The duo of freshman Tia Elpusan and sophomore Sara Khattab were the first to finish, winning a match on court one with a perfect 6-0 score. Utah State would grab a win on court three, leaving court two as the doubles point decider. Sophomore Lauren Wolfe and senior Tamilla Vaksman would fight their way to a 6-3 win to claim the doubles round for the Highlanders.

In the singles round Vaksman would shine again as she grabbed another point for UCR. On court six, the senior would down her opponent in straight sets of 6-4, 6-4.

Utah would go on to take the match 5-2.

UC Riverside is back in action at home this Sunday as they welcome a conference opponent in UC Davis. The Highlanders and Aggies will face off at 11:00 AM at the SRC Tennis Courts in Riverside, CA.
