Riverside, Calif.—After a stellar first weekend to begin the 2018 season, the UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team is ready to continue its success on Friday at 7:30 p.m. against CSU Bakersfield.
The Highlanders beat Saint Mary's last Friday thanks to a goal by senior midfielder Maddie Feist in the 99th minute. She was quick to score another goal in Sunday's contest against Loyola Maryland and assisted on the other in a 2-0 win. Those stats helped Feist win Big West Offensive Player of the Week
"Starting from last spring the team has talked about being consistent in everything we do. This season has started off well due to the team coming into this fall season focused on continuing that trend," head coach Nat Gonzalez said. "CSU Bakersfield will be motivated as they have a new coach in place and that usually energizes teams. We will need to be ready to play our best and continue to be better every outing."
The Highlanders have beat the Road Runners in five of the last six contests. Last season, UCR beat the Road Runners, 3-1, in Bakersfield.
