Men's Soccer Falls to UCSB 3-1

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.— The UC Riverside Men's Soccer Team fell 3-1 Sunday night on the road to UC Santa Barbara in the Highlanders' second match of the season.
The match was scoreless for most of the first half until the Gauchos took the lead with a goal in the 56th minute and added early in the 2nd half with their second score of evening to go up 2-0.
The Highlanders would cut UCSB's lead in half late in the match as midfielder Daniel Aguirre sunk a shot to the top left corner of the goal from 20 yards out in the 85th minute. This was the sophomore's first of th season.
UCR showed some life late in the match but the host Gauchos held off the comeback winning the match 3-1.
The Highlanders doubled the Gaucho corner kick count 4-2, but fell in the shots and saves battle.
UCR is back on the road this weekend taking a road trip to Big 10 territory where the Highlanders will face Michigan this Friday and Michigan State Monday morning.
