Women's Soccer Looks to Stay Unbeaten This Weekend

RIVERSIDE, Calif.—The UC Riverside Women's Soccer team begins an exciting weekend of competition against San Jose State on Friday at 5 p.m. and UNLV on Sunday at 4 p.m. as it looks to stay undefeated this season.

Currently the only team in the Big West still undefeated, the Highlanders (6-0-1) are off to their best start since 2004. The team has also allowed just one goal in the first seven games.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS

San Jose State (1-3-2) comes into Friday's matchup having recorded its first win of the season against UC Davis, winning in the 108th minute on a goal by freshman Hannah Mathews. This will be the 10th all-time meeting between the Spartans and Highlanders, with UC Riverside holding a 6-2-1 advantage.

SCOUTING THE REBELS

UNLV (6-1-1) heads into Sunday's game riding a four-game winning streak, which has included three straight shutouts. The Rebels and the Highlanders met a year ago in Las Vegas-a 2-1 win for UNLV. The Highlanders are 1-4 all-time vs. UNLV. The victory came in a 3-2 win on Sept. 28, 2008—the first meeting between the teams.

REGIONAL RANKINGS

The Highlanders are ranked No. 9 by the United Soccer Coaches West Regional Poll. Long Beach State, UC Santa Barbara and Cal State Fullerton are also in the Top 10.

HOME DOMINANCE

The Highlanders haven't dropped a match at UCR Soccer Stadium since Oct. 12, 2017 against CSUN.
