Women's Soccer Looks to Stay Undefeated vs. Seattle

Coming into Friday's match against Seattle, the UC Riverside Women's Soccer team knows it will be facing its toughest test so far this season.

Not only will it be the Highlanders first road game of the season, but it comes against the defending Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Champions, who have a record of 2-1-1 this season.

It's been a magical start to the season for UCR. The team has begun the season 5-0, its best start since 2004. Not only that, all five games have been shutouts via Annie Bailey and Laura Perjanik, something the team has never accomplished before. The Highlanders are also just one of a handful of teams in NCAA Division I still undefeated.

Senior midfielder Maddie Feist has been a big reason why. She is tied for second in the Big West with four goals. She's scored two game-winning goals this season, the latest coming in Sunday's 1-0 win vs. Houston in the 85th minute.

The team will finish its road trip against the University of Idaho on Sunday. The Vandals are 2-4 to begin the season and 1-0 at home.

"I am looking forward to playing in the Northwest," head coach Nat Gonzalez said. "It will be a good challenge vs. two teams that have shown quality against us in the past and in their results this season."
