Men's Basketball Drops Road Game at UCI

IRVINE, Calif.— A two game win streak was ended for the UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team (8-14, 2-4) Saturday night as the Highlanders fell 82-64 to the conference's top team, UC Irvine (17-5, 5-1).

Despite three Highlanders finding double scoring figures, UC Riverside could not hold off the Anteater attack allowing 41 points in each half and a .525 shooting performance in the game.

UCI Battled hard in the first half stretching its lead out to as much as 15 with just five minutes remaining in the first half. The Highlanders would reduce the lead to 41-30 heading into the half.

UCR came out of the locker room with a purpose cutting the lead to just five at 45-40, but the Anteaters would seal the contest taking their largest lead of the game, 82-55, with just a minute and a half left.

Junior Dikymbe Martin led all scorers with 16 points off of 6-of-9 shooting and sophomore Dominick Pickett and freshman Callum McRae rounded out the double digit scorers with 12 and 10, respectively. McRae would add his first ever double-double grabbing 10 rebounds as well.

The Highlanders will now begin a four-game home streak this Thursday as the Highlanders take on Cal Poly.
