Women's Soccer Bested at Long Beach 2-0

LONG BEACH—The momentum from its big win over UC Davis this past weekend was cut short for the UC Riverside Women's Soccer Team as the Highlanders fell 2-0 on the road to Long Beach State Thursday night. A pair of back-to-back goals for The Beach would give the team its second conference win.

With this contest in the books, UCR falls to a Big West Conference record of 1-5, while Long Beach improves to 2-3. With six total points, The Beach could still make a late season push to make the conference tournament with UCSB sitting in 4th with eight points.

In the 21st minute, LBSU's Nadiyah Siqueiros broke the scoreless tie with her first goal of the season to take a 1-0 lead, and less than two minutes later The Beach made it 2-0 with a goal from Sierra Castles.

UCR had it's opportunities, especially late in the contest where the Highlanders fired off seven shots, landing three on goal.

Freshman Caela Kaio got the start an gained some experience collecting three saves in the loss. Senior Amanda Roy and junior Alexis Vera both led with two shots, with each landing one on frame.

The regular season will come to a close for the Highlanders next weekend when it visits the two Central California teams in UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly.
