RIVERSIDE—
The second edition of the Crosstown Showdown belongs to CBU as the host Lancers defeated the UC Riverside Men's Basketball Team 79-67 Wednesday night. The Lancers dominated the glass all evening winning the rebound battle 43-26 and their 79 points is the most allowed by the Highlanders this season.

This loss ends a four-game win streak for UCR as the team falls to 6-3 on the season while CBU climbs back to an even 4-4 after dropping two straight.

The two Riverside teams traded blows for much of the first half until just under five minutes to go when CBU closed out the period on a run that saw them heading to the locker room up 41-35. That momentum would stretch into the second period as the Lancers never forfeited the lead and instead grew it to as much as 17 with just over five minutes to go.

Senior Milan Acquaah once again had his presence felt in the Crosstown Showdown notching 24 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. He was one of five Lancers in double-figures, including fellow senior Dejon Davis who added a 10 point, 11 rebounds double-double.

The Highlanders were led by sophomore DJ McDonald who connected on three triples and all three of his free throws to total 12 points, while sophomore Callum McRae joined him in double-digits with 11 points. Sophomore Angus McWilliam made an impact on the glass with a season-high eight boards in just 17 minutes off the bench.

The Highlander bench carried a majority of the workload scoring 32 of the team's 67 points and the team capitalized on Lancer mistakes turning 11 turnovers into 23 points. Unfortunately they could not limit CBU's second chance opportunities with the Lancers collecting 14 offensive rebounds.

UCR will look to bounce back at home Friday night at SRC Arena when the team hosts Cal Lutheran. Tip-off is set for 7 PM.
