Baseball Set for Weekend of Road Games vs. Rider & San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO—The UC Riverside Baseball team begins an extended stretch of road games when it faces Rider University and San Francisco this weekend.

The team will play 17 straight road games, beginning on Friday against Rider. UCR then faces host San Francisco on Saturday, before a doubleheader against Rider and then San Francisco to finish out the weekend.

This marks the first time UCR has ever faced Rider. The team has played San Francisco a total of 30 times, going 22-8. The last time the two teams played each other was in 2015. UCR swept the three-game series.

The Highlanders have won four of their last five games and swept Cal Baptist in a three-game series last weekend.

Right-hander Jeremiah Priddy gets the nod on Friday. He's started three games so far this season and is 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA. He's been a pitcher that head coach Troy Percival can depend on to go further in games than other starters so far this season.

After the Highlanders had nine pitchers toe the rubber in their game on Tuesday against San Diego, Percival will look for the same thing this time around. Priddy has gone at least five innings in two of his three starts and has allowed no more than four earned runs in a start.

Fooling Cal Baptist hitters in his last start on Sunday, Priddy went four innings, but struck out a total of seven batters. Five of his first six outs came via strikeout.

Yeager Taylor, who's been a commanding presence in the middle of the lineup, has a five game hitting streak. Three of those he's had more than one hit. He's batting .319 on the season with one home run and six RBIs.

Connor Cannon has complimented Taylor in the middle of the lineup. He's hitting .300 with two home runs and two doubles on the season.
