Softball Welcomes Trio of Opponents to the Highlander Classic

RIVERSIDE, Calif.— The UC Riverside Softball Team is back at Amy S. Harrison Field this weekend for the 2019 Highlander Classic. This year UCR is set for a five -game weekend that features a trio of tough opponents in Omaha, Houston, and San Diego.
The Highlanders' first matchup is set for Friday at 11:30 AM vs. Omaha.
TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

2:00 p.m. Houston vs. UC Riverside
The Highlanders are coming off of a 4-0 win over UTEP to close out the UCR Classic where junior pitcher Jacy Boles tossed a brilliant complete game, three-hit shutout.
VETE-RUNS
The Highlanders veterans have set the tone on the base paths so far this year as juniors Danielle Ortega, Emma Ramelot, and senior Brittney Garcia have combined for 32 of the team's 60 runs this year.
WHEELS
The Highlanders have been successful when gambling on the base paths this year stealing 13 bases in just 16 attempts. In return they have hosed three runners of their own on the defensive end.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Opening week, Haley Marschall earned her first career Big West Pitcher of the Week award after making three appearances in the USD Tournament.The junior earned a start, a win, and her first save since her freshmen season. She pitched a total of 11.0 innings allowing just one earned run on her way to a 0.64 ERA
R'HOUSE
The Highlanders are set to host four tournaments in four straight weekends at Amy S. Harrison Field featuring various teams from different conferences.Tickets are available at gohighlanders.com/tickets.
