Pitching Woes Continue for Baseball in Series Finale

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. –The UC Riverside's Baseball team was unable to slow down CSUN's offense on Sunday which resulted in an 11-6 loss. The team's offense was able to battle back in the later innings but it wasn't enough as the Highlanders fell in the series finale.

Falling behind was the theme of this series for Riverside as they found themselves down 9-0 after the first four innings. That's when the offense kicked it into gear and made it a ball game.

Senior Yeagar Taylor got the team on the board with a two-run homerun in the top of the fifth to cut the lead down to 9-2. The senior finished the game with three hits and three RBIs as he raised his season batting average to .326.

The team also got great production from their three-hole in the lineup as senior Dean Miller collected four hits on the day. One of those four hits was a three-run homerun in the top of the seventh that cut the Matador lead to 10-6.

Although the Highlanders kept the fight on, it wasn't enough to mount the full comeback. Sophomore Nathan Webb also collected two hits on the day. Webb has had two or more hits in five out the last eight games for the team.

Riverside will have the day off on Monday then travel to CSU Bakersfield on Tuesday, April 9th. The game will start at 6:00pm.
