BOULDER CITY, Nev. — Leaning into the windy weather that sent other teams farther back, UC Riverside has Tiffany Le and Kate Villegas in the top five while the Highlanders sit in second place as a team at end Round 2 at The Clash at Boulder Creek, shooting 8-over on Monday to sit 5 strokes off the lead at +13 overall, with UNLV in the lead at +8.
 
Tiffany Le, in 4th place, was the Highlanders' top golfer in Round 2 at the Desert Hawk/Coyote Run at Boulder Creek Golf Club, her even-par 72 pacing the squad. Kate Villegas (+1 Monday) is tied for 5th after 36 holes following her 73, followed by Nicole Le (+3 Round 2, T13,overall ) and Vanessa Betancourt and (+4, T13). Mylan Hirata came into the clubhouse with an 80 (+8) and sits in a tie for 47th.
 
"We fought for it today. The girls did their jobs, they were aggressive when they had opportunities and conscientious when conditions got really tough," said head coach Mary Ritchie. "They were frustrated that we finished so much higher than we started this morning but I really saw some outstanding grind in them today. We'll come out guns blazing in the morning."
 
The final round Tuesday will see UCR paired with USF and UNLV. The Runnin' Rebels' Veronica Joels is the leading individual golfer at 5-under overall after her 69 on Monday. Rounds 1 and 2 full results and live stats for Round 3 are available here.
