Highlanders Rally From Behind To Beat Pacific On The Road, 75-67

STOCKTON, Calif. - The University of California, Riverside (UCR) Highlanders women's basketball team diligently worked their way out from a game they spent mostly behind this Saturday, November 13. UC Riverside ultimately defeated the home team, University of the Pacific, 75-67, in a dramatic comeback, coming into and holding the lead for the last four minutes of play.

The Tigers offense jumped out early to take the lead, dominating the first quarter. Pacific held the Highlanders to 14 points while putting up 27 points in the first ten minutes of play.

After finding themselves in a 13-point deficit, UC Riverside wasted no time reorganizing and planting the seeds of their comeback.

The Highlanders scored over 20 points in the following three periods. UCR defense activated in the second half, letting up 20 total Tiger points, while scoring 40 in the back half themselves.

Olivia West was responsible for 18 of the Highlanders' 75 points, followed by Jada Holland with ten and Keilanei Cooper contributing nine.

West led all scoring categories for the Highlanders, shooting 5-5 on free throws, 3-5 from distance and 5-8 field goals. In addition to being the afternoon's second leading scorer, Holland led the Highlanders with six assists.

Daphne Gnago continues to lead UCR defensively, snagging ten boards and also scoring seven points.

The Highlanders earned their first win of the season in a game where they found and held the lead for just the final four minutes.

UC Riverside will return home for their next game, Tuesday, November 16 to host Cal Lutheran at 1:00 PM in the SRC Arena.
