RIVERSIDE, Calif. -
UC Riverside closed in on the program's single-game rebound record in a resounding 95-57 homecoming win over Bethesda on Saturday at the SRC Arena.

The Highlanders put in a complete team effort in Saturday's evening matchup.

"I'm pleased with the collective basketball our guys displayed on homecoming," head coach Mike Magpayo said. "They were really sharing the basketball and playing the right way. 10 different guys scored with 24 assists. We have an unselfish group."

UCR was off and running in the homecoming game with a 14-2 run through the first four minutes, extending to 21-5 halfway through the first period. UC Riverside held Bethesda to 23 percent from the floor midway through the half and 33 percent at the intermission as an offensive rhythm continued to set the game's tempo.

JP Moorman II reached a new season high in the first half alone with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting, joining Flynn Cameron's 10 points as the only Highlanders to reach double figures in the first half. Daniel Mading also reached a new mark with a career-high seven rebounds as UCR outworked Bethesday on the glass, 30-16, including 20 on the defensive end.

Cameron ended his night with 18 points and added eight rebounds on the night, including two with five minutes left in the second half he had to fight for before getting the putback bucket for his 14th point of the night.

Mading also enjoyed a breakthrough outing with 11 points and 10 rebounds, notching a double with Jhaylon Martinez's 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Zyon Pullin put in his own work in the opening half with four rebounds and seven assists, coming one shy of tying a career high. Pullin ended his night with six points, four rebounds and eight assists.

Dominick Pickett made his return to the rotation from a calf injury, going for 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting with five rebounds and four assists. Pickett was one of five Highlanders in double figures scoring, a first for UC Riverside this season.

UCR continued to pound the boards in the second half. A 14-4 advantage midway through helped the Highlanders eventually out-rebound their opponent for the fourth time in five games this season, outworking the Flames 68-31 on the glass.

UC Riverside's astronomical total of 68 boards is the third highest in NCAA Division I this season and five shy of tying the program's single-game record of 73.

"We demand defensive grit and rebounding from our team, and we did the job on the boards," Magpayo said. "We held this team under 30% from the field, so it was a successful day for our team in those categories."

29 second-chance points in the latter 20 minutes helped UCR widen its lead in the second half with a 14-4 advantage in offensive rebounds making it possible.

UC Riverside is back in action on Monday, November 22 at UTEP inside the Don Haskins Center. The game will be broadcast on CUSAtv and with an audio broadcast on GoHighlanders.com.Â
