Highlanders Excel in Classroom for Winter Term

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Grades for the winter term of the 2020-21 UC Riverside academic year were posted this week and the results produced by UCR's student-athletes reflect a continued excellence in their efforts in the classroom.

Four men's teams (Golf, Soccer, Tennis and Cross-Country) and all eight women's teams (Soccer, Basketball, Softball, Volleyball, Golf, Tennis, Track & Field, Cross-Country), achieved a term GPA of at least 3.0, with three of the women's teams (Women's Soccer, Softball and Tennis) hitting at least 3.5.

"We are incredibly proud of how our amazing student-athletes continue to excel academically," said Interim Director of Athletics, Wesley Mallette. "UC Riverside is a top 35 public university and part of the best public university system in America. Our student-athletes are competing and achieving success in the classroom at a very high level and their commitment and dedication to representing this great institution is unparalleled."

Men's Soccer turned in the highest GPA of all men's teams at 3.49 while Women's Tennis topped all women's teams with 3.59.

Both Soccer teams hold the highest cumulative GPAs in their respective genders, with the men's team posting a 3.3 and the women's team posting a 3.5.

Individually, 88 student-athletes (33.3 percent of all student-athletes) were named to the Dean's List with Women's Soccer leading the way (19), followed by Women's Track & Field (13).

Of the current 264 student-athletes at UCR, 141 (53 percent) achieved a 3.5 GPA or better for the winter term while 31 student-athletes turned in a perfect 4.0.
