Azusa, Calif – The University of California, Riverside (UCR) middle distance runners had a breakthrough night on day two of the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific University.
The Highlanders were led by FR
Carolinh Calvert, who won heat two of the women's 1500m run in a lifetime best time of 4:28.64. Her time catapults her to number eight
all-time at UCR.
In heat four, JR
Daisy Romero notched a three-second lifetime best 4:39.84, which was good enough for third place in her section of the 1500m race. Sam Velazquez also netted an eight-second lifetime best over her previous best from last week. She stopped the clock at 4:57.63.
In the women's 200m final, SO
Delaney Harris inched her lifetime best down from yesterday's 25.33 finals qualifier, to a fourth place finish in the open section of the 200m, in 25.32.
The Highlanders will be back in action next Saturday, April 24
th at the Matador Invitational hosted by Cal State University-Northridge.
