Northridge, Calif. – The University of California, Riverside (UCR) men's and women's track and field were in action today at the CSUN "Matador Invitational". The four team invite, though high in competition, did not tally team scores. On the individual front, the Highlanders boasted many new seasons' best and lifetime best marks.
"This was a small invitational, which really brings us back to the foundations of track and field; small fields of athletes, not overly worried about marks and times, but working towards competing against each other. Learning how to compete will be very important for our athletes as we move towards the post season, just a few short weeks ahead," Assistant Coach Rob Hansen commented on the day.
Some of the highlights for the UCR Blue and Gold were:
-
Andrew Jackson won the men's 400m dash with a lifetime best 48.10 seconds. He is now ranked 7
th in the Big West Conference and #7 on the UCR All-Time list. (He is currently 3
rd at 800m)
-
Delaney Harris won the women's 100m dash in a lifetime best 12.31 seconds. That time ranks her 8
th best in the Big West Conference in 2021.
-
Daisy Romero finished 2
nd in the 800m run. She earned a lifetime best 2:18.03, cutting more than a second off of her previous best that she earned last week at the Bryan Clay Invite.
