UC Riverside Baseball Releases 2022 Slate

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The UC Riverside Highlanders Baseball team will play 54 games throughout its 2022 season, with 29 of those contests slated to take place at home at the Riverside Sports Complex on the campus of UC Riverside. Click here to view the full schedule. 
 
The Highlanders will kick off their 2022 campaign on the road with a three-game series at Fresno State, February 18-20, and will open up at home on February 22 with a single night game against Washington.
 
Next, the Highlanders will travel to UCLA for a three-game series, February 25-27.
 
On Friday, March 4, the Saint Mary's Gaels travel to the Inland Empire for the Highlanders' only four-game series, from March 4-6, with 2022's first doubleheader of the year taking place on March 5. The Highlanders host Portland next, with a single game played on March 10 and a doubleheader the following day, March 11.

Following the Portland series, UCR kicks off the 2022 Big West Conference schedule hosting CSU Bakersfield in the standard three games in three days format.
 
The Highlanders will squeeze in a single home non-conference game, hosting UNLV on March 22, before heading to Fullerton for their first Big West road series of the season. The Titans will host the Highlanders for three games in Fullerton, March 25-27.
 
After the CSUF series, UC Riverside will play Loyola Marymount at home for a single mid-week contest on Tuesday, March 29.
 
Talking about the season ahead, head coach Justin Johnson stated, "We are excited about our 2022 schedule. We open up with a tough non-conference matchups against Division I powers like Fresno State, Washington and UCLA. That should prepare us well for the highly competitive Big West Conference schedule."
 
Conference play returns to the Riverside Sports Complex with a Big West series against UC Davis from April 1-3.
 
The Highlanders hit the road next, heading to the strip for a single game against UNLV on April 5. UCR continues Big West play the following weekend with a three-game series against Hawaii, April 8-10 in Honolulu.
 
The following week they return from the road for another Big West series at home against CSUN, April 14-16. A single night game against Utah Valley will take place at home at the 'Plex on April 20.
 
From April 22-24, the Mustangs of Cal Poly will face off against the Highlanders in Riverside in another three-game, Big West series.
 
The Highlanders travel to nearby Loyola Marymount for another single game on Tuesday, April 26. It's back to Big West competition after that, with the Highlanders headed to San Diego to take on the Tritons of UC San Diego from April 29-May 1.
 
The road stretch continues from there, with another three-game Big West series taking place at Long Beach State from May 6-8.
 
Washington State travels to Riverside for a single game on May 11, warming the Highlanders up at home for the following weekend's Big West series against UC Irvine. The Anteaters will play UC Riverside at the Riverside Sports Complex for their final Big West series at home from May 13-15.
 
The last Big West series of the year for the Highlanders is slated for May 20-22 on Gaucho territory, with UC Santa Barbara being the final Big West opponent of the year for UCR.
 
But, that's not it for 2022! In the latest edition of the "Crosstown Showdown," California Baptist and UC Riverside will battle for the Inland Empire, playing the first and last game of the three-game series at CBU on May 26 and 28, and UCR hosting a single game at the Plex on May 27. This will be the last home game of the year for UCR, also serving as Senior Day.
