BOULDER CREEK, Nev. – UC Riverside is in 12th after 54 holes at The Clash at Boulder Creek following a 295 in Monday's second round at the Boulder Creek Golf Club
Kate Villegas was the low Highlander for the day with a 2-under 70. All five Highlanders birdied the 16th hole, including Mylan Hirata, who is competing as an individual.
Villegas averaged a 3.90 on par 4 scoring and 4.50 on par 5, while Tiffany Le clocked in at 2.75 on par 3 and 4.75 on par 5.
Four Highlanders shot at or below their first round scores, led by Villegas' six-stroke difference that dipped her under par for the day. Vanessa Betancourt shaved three strokes off her first round score to move into a tie for 36 with a 1-over 73 on Monday, while Maleyna Gregorio shot a 77 after shooting 81 on Sunday.
Betancourt tied for the lead at the top of the field with 15 pars on Monday, and with 18 holes remaining, UCR is fourth in the 19-team field with 113 pars for the event.
Gabrielle Kiger and Tiffany Le will kick off UCR's final round in Nevada on Tuesday morning with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
