Highlanders Fall in Return to Big West Action

RIVERSIDE, Calif. -Â UC Riverside returned to Big West action on Saturday morning at the SRC Tennis Courts, falling 4-0 to Cal State Fullerton.Â
After falling with Niki Shahbazi in doubles, Serina Saltzen tied her singles match with a 6-2 set before her match on court two was abandoned. Sofia Lazzaroni featured on court three for the Highlanders in singles action, making things difficult for her opponent in a 4-6, 2-3 match.Â
Shahbazi also pestered her opponent on the six line, pushing to a 6-7 score in set one before having her match abandoned with a 1-2 score in set two.Â
UCR will play its final home match of the seven-match stretch on Friday, February 18 when the Highlanders welcome Long Beach State to the SRC Tennis Courts. First serve is slated for 1:30 p.m. and the match will be streamed live on ESPN+.Â
