RIVERSIDE, Calif. -
Four Highlanders scored in double figures for the second consecutive game as UC Riverside completed the season sweep of CSUN on Thursday night with a 79-57 win at the SRC Arena.

The win cemented UCR's third 15-win season in the program's 20-year Division I history and matched last year's Big West record at 8-4.

"It means we have a group that plays the right way, approaches the work the right way, and it's turning into some good wins for the team. It ensures another good season as we continue to establish ourselves in the Big West and head into the Big West Tournament," head coach Mike Magpayo said on the significance of the benchmark win.

Daniel Mading led UCR out to a fast start against the Matadors on Thursday with eight points in the early going on 3-of-3 shooting with a pair of triples included. Mading and Dragan Elkaz combined to go a perfect 5 for 5 from deep, as the duo made up five of UC Riverside's seven triples in the first half.

Elkaz finished his night with an efficient 15 points in 19 minutes, and UCR shot 50 percent from the floor for the third straight game.

The Highlanders controlled every facet of the first half from the opening tip, holding advantages in rebounding (17-7), bench points (17-5) and points in the paint (20-10). UCR assisted on 13 of 19 field goals in the opening 20 minutes, racing out to a 47-27 halftime advantage.

Callum McRae, who was named Big West Player of the Week on Monday, notched his second straight double double and sixth of the season with 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting to go along with 13 rebounds, three assists and a block.

UC Riverside tacked 23 assists onto 31 made field goals on Thursday, marking the 13th game this season with an assist on more than 50 percent of all made field goals as.

UCR will close out its home schedule on Saturday, February 26 when the Highlanders welcome UC Santa Barbara to the SRC Arena for Senior Night. Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Nick Koop and Steven Douglas on the call. Geoff Gorham will have the call on UCR radio.
