Box Score RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside fell 9-3 in game one of a three-game with CSU Bakersfield on Friday night at the Riverside Sports Complex. 

UCR opened Big West play against the Roadrunners for the second straight season. 

Andrew Gamez registered his third three-hit game of his freshman campaign, going 3 for 5 in the Big West opener with an RBI. The freshman knocked a 2-1 pitch into right field to bring home fellow Highlander newcomer Sean McLeod from third. Danny Carnazzo had a 2-for-4 night in Friday's series opener, collecting his first multi-hit game of the season. Joey Nicolai knocked in his fifth RBI in his last five games, going 1 for 2. 

The Highlanders are back at it on Saturday evening for a 6:00 p.m. for game two against the Roadrunners on ESPN+.
