FRESNO, Calif. - UC Riverside the first two rounds of the Fresno State Classic on Monday at the Belmont Country Club.
The Highlanders currently sit in 11th out of 15 teams in the field.
Kate Villegas (T11, 73-74-147) and
Tiffany Le (T19, 72-76-148) enter Tuesday's final round in the top 20. Le continued her impressive first spring of collegiate golf, shooting for par on the first 18 holes with three of her five birdies coming on par 5s.
Villegas and
Vanessa Betancourt both birdied par-5 holes nine and 12 in the first round. Five of six Highlanders recorded multiple birdies in round one, including
Brooke Yi, who competed as an individual. Villegas birdied three holes on the front nine in round two and shot for par on seven of nine holes on the back nine.
UCR will conclude its trip to Fresno in Monday's third and final round.
