Box Score LA JOLLA, Calif. - UC Riverside traveled to UC San Diego's Triton Soccer Stadium for a Sunday afternoon bout against the nearby Big West foe. The result, a scoreless draw, brought the Highlanders to 2-10-6 overall and 2-5-2 in Big West play as they head into the final game of the season next week.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Aaliyah Tu'ua and Sarah Mahfoud threatened for the Highlanders in a competitive first half that saw the teams exchanging shots.
- Cassia Souza was credited with two saves before the first half countdown concluded, preventing Triton defense from finding the net.
- The first corner kick of the game came for the Highlanders in the second half with 24 minutes left in regulation. Lavinia Vaipulu got a head on it but wasn't able to convert the opportunity.
- Triton pressure increased in the second half, with seven shots in the final 45 minutes of play.Â
- Despite the increase in Triton offensive pressure, Highlander defense held the line, with Souza notching an additional four saves in the second half.Â
- Vaipulu and Kayla Kanaly attacked for the Highlanders in the back half of the game, but neither found the net to take a lead over the Tritons.
