Highlanders Fall to No. 20 North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UC Riverside traveled to Chapel Hill on Friday night for its second of four Power 5 road trips of the season, falling 77-52 to No. 20 North Carolina.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • UCR was neck and neck with the nationally-ranked Tar Heels out of gate in a 4-4 deadlock at the first media break. Ben Griscti gave the Highlanders a brief lead with the early triple and led UC Riverside at the break with nine points.
  • UC Riverside held the Tar Heels to just five offensive rebounds and 18 percent from deep in the first half.
  • UCR found its stride late in the first half on both ends of the floor, blanking the Tar Heels from the floor in their final seven attempts while going 7 for 12 from the field down the stretch.
  • UC Riverside went on a brief 8-0 run midway through the second half with back-to-back triples from Griscti and Barrington Hargress.
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
  • Griscti (14) and Hargress (10) were UCR's double-digit scorers in Chapel Hill, going a combined 9 for 25 from the field.
  • Wil Tattersall was one point and three rebounds shy of his first career double double.
  • Vladimer Salaridze did a little of everything for UC Riverside on Friday with two points, four rebounds, an assist and two steals.
