Highlanders Close Out The Joust in Jurupa Valley

JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. - UC Riverside resumed and completed The Joust following a shortened day one due to darkness, as Josh Hu (67-75-71-213) turned in a top-five finish when it was all said and done on Tuesday at the Goose Creek Golf Club.

The senior shot his second of three rounds under par, carding a 1-under 71 in round three with two birdies and an eagle following a 75 in a two-day round two. Hu has now turned in top-10 finishes in all five of UCR's tournaments across the fall and spring.

Hu turned in his 12th round at or under par of the season in the process, and is now the 13th Highlander in program history with at least 12 such rounds in a season and first since Brandon Tsujimoto in 2017-18.

Minjae Park (72-71-75-218) competed individually and also finished in the top 20, finishing in a tie for 16th with two rounds at or under par and third amongst 19 individuals. Peter Zhang was UCR's next highest individual competitor, tying for 32nd (75-71-77-223).

Trent Hirdler shot his tournament low of 81 in round three as an individual competitor, and Mark Gao carded 78 in rounds two and three after an 83 in round one.

UC Riverside will head to Palm Desert for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate next, teeing off from the Classic Club on Wednesday, March 1.
