UCR Closes Out Valley Invitational in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - UC Riverside finished in a tie for seventh at the Valley Invitational, held at the Bakersfield Country Club to cap off the Highlanders' first tournament of the spring season.Â
Tiffany Le (78-76-73-227) carded two of her three birdies on the back end of Tuesday's final round to finish in 18th. Vanessa Betancourt shot a 78 to finish right behind in a tie for 19th (76-74-78-228).Â
Le and her sister, Nicole, averaged a 3.17 on par 3 scoring, while Nicole ranked seventh with 10 birdies.Â
UCR found massive success after the final turn of the first tournament of the spring. All five Highlanders in the lineup in addition to individual competitor Gabrielle Kiger shaved strokes off their score, led by Mylan Hirata's six-stroke decrease after birdies on 11 and 12.Â
UC Riverside is next headed to a tournament they know all too well, the GCU Spring Invite on February 27 and 28 from the GCU Golf Course in Phoenix, Arizona.
