Two Highlanders Sit in Top 10 Heading into Final Round

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Tiffany Le (T5) and Vanessa Betancourt (T8) are in the top 10 of the leaderboard after 36 holes at the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational in St. George, Utah.Â
UCR is one of three schools with two individuals in the top 10 at the Sunbrook Golf Course, joining Wyoming and CSU Bakersfield.Â
Le (69-77-146) was consistent on the front nine with just one bogey and eight pars, but struggled on the back nine despite shooting 1-under on 17. Betancourt, meanwhile, jumped seven spots up the leaderboard into a top-10 positioning following four birdies and an eagle. The junior went 1-under two of her first three holes as well as her second to last for a strong start and finish on day two.Â
Maleyna Gregorio (78-77-155) shaved a stroke off her first round score thanks to a birdie on 14, while Mylan Hirata (81-78-159) carded a sub-80 round after an 81 on Thursday.Â
UCR continues to lead the way on par 5 scoring with a 5.05 stroke average while the younger Le sister is tied for third with 26 pars.Â
Le will tee off the Highlanders on the fourth hole for Saturday's final round at 9:00 a.m.
