Baseball Drops Series Opener with Long Beach State

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside opened Big West play on Friday night at the Riverside Sports Complex with a 7-2 defeat to Long Beach State.Â
Jacob Badawi and Tyler Weaver each went 2 for 3 on the night, but Badawi erased the goose egg on the scoreboard with a run in the fifth inning on a 3-0 walk to Andrew Gamez, who extended his on-base streak to seven with the walk.
Anthony McFarland also stretched his on-base streak to 13 games after going 1 for 4 with a leadoff single to center in the bottom of the ninth.Â
UCR will look to tie the series on Saturday with a 6:30 p.m. first pitch against the Beach at the Riverside Sports Complex.Â
