FRESNO, Calif. - UC Riverside put on a show on the final day of the Fresno State Classic, as Tiffany Le (70-73-71-214) captured the individual title at the San Joaquin Country Club while Mylan Hirata (73-74-72-219) shot even par in round three to jump 10 spots up the leaderboard and finish in a tie for fifth.
Le is now one of four Highlanders in program history with multiple wins in a season and one of seven with multiple in their career - Tuesday's final round followed the sophomore's individual win at Hobble Creek in the fall. She is also now tied with Jakeishya Le in 2016-17 for the most rounds at or below par in a season with 11.Â
Le was a stroke over par entering Tuesday, but four birdies in round three helped her claim the win.
As a team, UCR moved five spots up the leaderboard in round three, shooting a 293 to tie for second overall in the 15-team field. The Highlanders carded the lowest round three score at 5-over 293, seven strokes ahead of the next best score. Overall, four Highlanders jumped up the leaderboard to end the tournament in Fresno.
For the two-day event, UCR finished in the top three in par 4 and 5 scoring, as well as third with 36 birdies.Â
Hirata, who earned the best finish of her career, was not the only Highlander to make a major jump in the leaderboard. Nicole Le jumped 28 spots in round three after shooting a 73, her lowest round of the season, with three birdies.Â
UC Riverside is next at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, competing from April 3 to 4 at the Ak Chin Southern Dunes in Maricopa, Arizona, before the Big West Championships in Las Vegas.Â
