RIVERSIDE, Calif. - UC Riverside put up top marks in its second of two home meets of the season on Friday at the Chris Rinne Twilight, held at the UC Riverside Track Stadium.
JT Ober III took first in the javelin with a 63.20, just under two meters shy of his 64.98m from last year's Rinne meet. Sean Caster claimed UCR's second event win on the men's side with a 14:53.29 in the 5000m. George Cervanka had a day for UCR, placing third in the 100m with a time of 10.77 and fourth in the 200m in 21.70 while Andrew Jackson, Liam Carr and Reggie Day went six, seven and eight in the 400m.
UCR also found success in the 100m and 200m on the women's side, as Raykiyat Olukoju won the 200m (23.70) and placed second in the 100m (11.82).
Sprinter success continued with Saniyah Starks' win in the 400m (54.59) while Linda Perez, Riley Jones and Collette Lowengrub went three, four and five in the 5000m. In field, Highlander throwers showed off with Melissa Toilolo (14.53m) and Karyssa Owens (13.51) taking one and two, respectively, in the shot put. Toiilolo also took third in the discus while Shiloh Corrales-Nelson placed second.
Corrales-Nelson won the hammer throw with Owens finishing runner up.
UC Riverside has one last meet before the Big West Championships, heading to the Steve Scott Invitational at UC Irvine next weekend.
