DAVIS, Calif. - UC Riverside closed out a three-game series with UC Davis on Sunday afternoon with an 11-6 defeat at Dobbins Field. 

UCR responded after a slow start with a pair of runs in the second to tie Sunday's series finale, courtesy of Nick Poss and Alfredo Capacete, who served as the Highlanders' DH after starting Saturday's game two on the mound. 

The Highlanders put together their third four-run inning of the series in the fifth to pull within 9-6 with Jacob Shanks, Anthony Mata and Dominic Martinez driving in three of the four. Mata later scored on a passed ball. 

Marcellus Pearson recorded his first career three-hit game, going 3 for 4 in the finale with a run. Pearson's second hit of the day was a 1-1 single to left right before Jacob Shanks kicked off the four-run fifth with an RBI. 

UC Riverside will host Kansas State on Tuesday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Riverside Sports Complex before resuming Big West play with a weekend home series against Hawaii.
